Finally, Jackie and Tiger Shroff come together on screen for Baaghi 3
Duo plays father-son in the third Baaghi film; Jackie, who features as a cop, started shooting on Monday
Since he made his debut in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti, many filmmakers have been trying to bring Tiger Shroff and actor-father Jackie together for a film. Finally, it is Sajid who has pulled off the casting coup. Mirror has learnt that the Jackie has been roped in for the third instalment of the Baaghi franchise. He plays dad to both Tiger and Riteish Deshmukh, who are brothers in the film.
According to a source close to the development, it was Sajid himself who pitched the idea to the senior Shroff. And Jackie was quick to give his nod. He started shooting from Monday, January 20, in Mumbai. “It is a five-day schedule which ends on Friday. They are shooting on location in suburban Mumbai,” informed the source.
Confirming the news, Sajid who was at the shoot on Wednesday, told Mirror, “Everyone has been waiting to see Tiger team up with his ‘Hero’ father Jackie since we launched him. There have been plenty of speculations, but no one has been able to bring them together in the last six years as the duo was categorical that they would only share the screen when a film and role merited their presence. Ahmed and I feel the storyline required Jackie to be a part of the film and our visions matched because it’s a pivotal role.”
The Ahmed Khan directorial, which also features Shraddha Kapoor and Ankita Lokhande as sisters, took off in Mumbai last September. In November, the team kicked off a marathon schedule in Serbia during which many hi-octane action sequences were filmed. This time, Tiger, who has built Baaghi into a successful franchise with plenty of death-defying stunts, will be taking on three baddies— Israeli actor Jameel Khoury, who featured in the Hollywood film Body of Lies, Jaideep Ahlawat, the RAW officer in Raazi who trains Alia Bhatt, and stuntman-turned-actor Ivan Kostadinov.
The source further reveals that the film, which is scheduled for release on March 6, has Jackie playing a police inspector and his role is pivotal to the plot. While Sajid will not divulge any details about the role, he asserts, “The father-son duo coming together will only add to the expectations from Baaghi 3, but I am confident no one will be disappointed by this double dose of the Shroffs. It will be a strong USP of the film.”
